Business Development Manager

OPIsystems Inc. in Calgary is searching for an experienced Business Development Manager.  The candidate is responsible to develop and execute strategic marketing & sales plans to seize market advantages based on sound business relations to existing and prospective customers.  This individual will serve to penetrate new markets for the products and systems of OPI and to introduce new selling means and facilities in new market regions with the ultimate objective of expanding new revenue streams and client acquisition.  This requires a thorough knowledge of the marketplace and of the company’s competitors.

The Business Development Manager will also launch and manage new products, services, and associated brands to meet profitability goals through effective education to new customers.  This experienced professional will develop training plans to educate and motivate the sales employees to perform at their most profitable level.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Generate and maintain an expanding sales funnel through consistent development of new business opportunities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key clients and channel partners – penetrate major corporate clients at multiple levels.
  • Develop, manage and nurture new business accounts and partnerships to accomplish profit and volume goals
  • Complete demonstrations that are accurate, thorough and timely
  • Explore new channels, potential applications, and corporate accounts
  • Maximize brand value through the development of ancillary revenue streams and new opportunities
  • Ensure all products, services, and other offerings conform to brand identity; conduct ongoing brand management.

Write Proposals and Specifications

  • Assist DSM’s on farm/channel partner sales calls – investigate complaints and recommend action to resolve. Keep DSM’ and customer updated.
  • Overcome business and technical objections of prospective customers
  • Develop and present highly professional proposals
  • Develop a method of follow up on all quotes
  • Determine pricing and profitability margins into new markets based on market research and other projections

Coaching & Training Channel Partners on OPI Products & Systems

  • Provide Channel Partner and Customer’s support & training
  • Provide support and tools to account managers and other sales staff that will drive sales within new areas.
  • Prepare and execute presentations to NA’s, Channel Partners & relevant industry groups

Administration

  • Prepare accurate business transaction reports
  • Collaborate with sales, production, and operations personnel to prepare sales forecasts
  • Work with designers, writers, editors and other creative staff to produce marketing collateral in accordance with brand messages and market requirements.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on competitor activities; make recommendations based on findings/opportunities discovered.

Requirements & Qualifications:

Education Requirements:

  • Sc. Business Administration or Sales or equivalent experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Able to assist in creating a culture of continuous improvement
  • Skills in problem-solving, judgment and decision-making, effective leadership and communication
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal/written)
  • Excellent understanding and familiarity with brand building and brand management
  • Ability to build and sustain relationships with key business partners, including retailers, wholesalers, and resellers.
  • Strong knowledge of competitive analysis methods.
  • Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft® Office®
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple diverse tasks and deliverables
  • Flexible, independent and self-motivated
  • Team player with strong analytical skills
  • An interest in and passion for electronic technology
  • An interest and passion for the Agriculture Industry
