Director of Marketing and Communications

OPIsystems Inc. is seeking an experienced Director of Marketing and Communications who would be responsible for leading the development and implementation of OPI’s marketing, social media, branding, and communication activities; under the guidance of the Chief Revenue Officer.  The Director is also responsible for assisting with strategies for effective production and implementation of niche-based marketing efforts that enhances engagement and exposure, and that moves potential clients through the sales cycle.  This role will support markets in Canada, the United States and International.

Job Duties

Demand/Lead Generation

  • Manage inbound/outbound marketing activity
  • Update website with positioning that matches business objectives
  • Integrate lead generation across all sales and marketing activities and integrate into CRM approach
  • Collaborate with sales to determine target markets that will receive demand generation support
  • Work with marketing consultants

Trade show/Event Support

  • Collaborate with sales to determine trade show, priorities and plans
  • Execute with excellence on logistics for each trade show

Sales and Channel Partner Support

  • Collaboration with sales to determine market needs including brochures, videos, sales presentations, dealer support materials and co-promotional initiatives
  • Plan and coordinate all Canadian, USA Sales and Channel Support activity
  • Work with Ad Agency to produce materials as required
  • Execute with excellence on delivery of Sales and Channel Support materials
  • Undertake continuous analysis of competitive environment and consumer trends

Brand Management

  • External – Intentionalize OPI’s image in the marketplace, from hiring through to end-users
  • Internal – Consistent look and feel across all applications, from marketing collateral, to UI, (style-guide)
  • Create and maintain consistent corporate branding/image voice cross product lines, events, and promotional materials, and throughout company departments

Content Management & Social Media

  • Annual overarching multi-channel marketing strategy
  • Refreshed and cohesive brand presentation throughout all marketing touch points (collateral, website, advertising, etc.)
  • Annual Dealer Engagement strategy
  • Manage Videographer to produce video content for web and social media distribution
  • Manage content development and curation
  • Responsible for all company interactions on the social  media, including responding to messages, creating messages, and uploading photos
  • Apply various digital analytics and media tracking tools to generate reports on progress of work on the social media
  • Apply various social media tactics in creating brand awareness and generating inbound traffic that strengthens OPI’s social media presence.

Communications & PR

  • Develop communications and PR strategy for each territory
  • Work with industry media, publications and industry associations to keep them current and informed about OPI’s technology and activities
  • Be able to react to real-time events or situations that would benefit from a communication and/or PR campaign to drive timely awareness or sales opportunities


Requirements & Qualifications:

Education Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree (B.Comm/Marketing) or equivalent experience
  • Agriculture degree with business experience will be considered

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • 10 years in a marketing leadership role
  • ‪Agriculture background and/or agriculture sector experience is an asset
  • Experience in marketing strategy development and marketing plan development
  • Deep experience in campaign lifecycle and execution
  • Deep knowledge and experience in working with Ad Agencies
  • ‪Project management experience
  • Direct or indirect sales experience
  • Strong e-marketing/SEO/marketing automation experience
  • Events management experience

Competency Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple diverse tasks and deliverables within one or more projects
  • Flexible, independent and self-motivated
  • Team player with strong analytical skills
